About Us
Living Oaks Academy was founded in 2019 out of a desire to create a place where Jesus is the center of everything we do so that students, families, and community members could experience the His love and His presence and learn to choose an abundant, authentic life defined by joy and peace. We continue to pursue Him and His blueprints so that the desire of HIs heart will be fulfilled through our school community.
We believe that the most powerful learning occurs in an environment focused on God as our Creator where students are actively engaged in meaningful, real-world projects that ignite their God-given curiosity and challenge them to think creatively. As educators, our goal is to create a learning environment where worship, inquiry, innovation, and collaboration are not only encouraged but are central to the learning process.
Project-Based Learning (PBL) is the heart of our instructional approach. Through PBL, students explore complex questions, design solutions, and construct knowledge by engaging in authentic tasks that mirror the challenges they will face in life outside the classroom. Projects are not just assignments; they are opportunities for students to take ownership of their learning, develop critical thinking skills, and connect academic content to their own lives and interests.
Creativity is essential in this process. We believe God created people to live with excellence and to create solutions that bring His fullness of life to the world around them. We aim to cultivate a school culture where experimentation is valued, diverse perspectives are welcomed, and failure is seen as a natural part of the learning journey. By integrating creative problem-solving into every project, students learn to approach challenges with flexibility and confidence. We design worship and educational experiences that allow for the student’s voice and choice to be the central expression of knowledge gained, enabling learners to pursue questions they are passionate about and to express their understanding in diverse ways—through writing, art, design, technology, and beyond.
In a project-based and creativity-driven school, the role of the teacher shifts from deliverer of content to facilitator of exploration. We guide, support, and inspire students as they navigate their learning journeys. We strive to model a love for learning, a respect for diverse ways of thinking, a commitment to growth, and a life lived with integrity and excellence.
Ultimately, our philosophy centers on the belief that God wants to bring a breath of fresh air to the world through our students and that our education should prepare students not just to succeed academically, but to thrive as innovative thinkers, compassionate collaborators, lifelong learners, and joyful worshipers in a rapidly evolving world.
